4-14 FRONT GAUGE WHEELS

4-14.1
The Vertical Harrow is equipped with
castering gauge wheels at the outer front
corners of each wing. These gauge wheels
are used to limit depth of the wings, and pre-
vent gouging and buckling of wing frames.
4-14.2
Gauge wheels are not intended to carry
the wing, but prevent excessive depth. Adjust
the wheels to carry some weight, but not
enough to hold the wing from reaching oper-
ating depth set with the main lift hydraulics.
IMPORTANT
EXCESSIVE DOWN PRESSURE CAN CAUSE
THE IMPLEMENT TO THROW A CENTER
RIDGE.
4-14.3
To adjust the gauge wheel depth,
loosen and adjust the nuts on each side of
the gauge wheel cross. A wrench is provided
on the implement for this adjustment. All
other connections should remain tight. Se-
curely tighten the adjusting nuts when com-
plete. Both gauge wheel assemblies should
be set the same. Verify adjustment by mea-
suring the length of the bolt centers of the
gauge wheel adjustment rod.
