3 Installing/Routing External Fibers
b
Route and Bind Optical Fibers
1
Insert optical fibers into the board, arrange the fiber
1
jumpers, and bind them. Place the optical fibers on
the board into cable troughs from the middle to both
sides in the sequence of 1 to 6. In this case, the
maximum number of fibers can be routed through the
cable troughs.
NOTE
1. Route the optical fibers near the middle of the
chassis into cable troughs, and then route the optical
fibers from inside to outside into the cable troughs.
2. Do not bend or press the optical fibers with
excessive force. The bending radius of an optical
fiber cannot be smaller than 10 mm (G.657A2 fiber
with short strain relief boots). No protruding
component is allowed on the cabling route of the
optical fiber.
3. After optical fibers are arranged in order, bind the
optical fibers with binding tapes. Ensure that the
optical fibers are bound with proper strength and the
spacing between binding tapes is less than or equal
to 250 mm.
CAUTION
Before routing optical fibers, check whether the
power cables, ground cables, network cables,
door status monitoring cables (optional), and
E1 cables (optional) are routed.
2
Bind the optical fibers on the side of the cabinet.
2
Arrange the optical fibers that are routed through the
cable troughs of the chassis, and then place them into
the cabling channel between the fiber fixture and the
chassis. Pull out the redundant optical fibers from the
top of the cabinet to ensure that the length of the optical
fibers inside the cabinet is proper. Use binding tapes to
bind optical fibers and secure the optical fibers to the
fiber fixture. Then use binding tapes to bind and secure
the optical fibers to the top of the cabinet.
NOTE
1. Ensure that optical fibers are not over-bent due
to redundancy or tightened due to stress.
2. In the scenario where cables are routed from
the top, route optical fibers of the lower rack first,
and then route the optical fibers of the upper rack.
In the scenario where cables are routed from the
bottom, route optical fibers of the upper rack first,
and then route the optical fibers of the lower rack.
CAUTION
1. To prevent binding tapes from pressing optical
fibers, you are advised to put binding tapes and
then put optical fibers into the binding tapes.
2. Put the connector of the binding tapes
outwards to avoid damage to the optical fibers.
3. Do not use plastic binding tapes to bind optical
fibers.
NOTE
The position where the binding tapes pass
through the fiber fixture can be adjusted
according to the number of fibers to be routed.
