Forcing Windows 95 to Detect
the Serial Hardware

This appendix describes how to troubleshoot problems and answers some
common questions.
If Windows 95 does not detect your serial hardware correctly, it does not
display the New Hardware Found dialog box. To fix this problem, follow
these steps.
1.
Select Start»Settings»Control Panel.
2.
Double-click on the System icon.
3.
Select the Device Manager page.
4.
Click the View devices by type button.
5.
Double-click on Other Devices where Windows 95 lists the ports it
does not recognize. Double click on Multifunction-Adapter class
where Windows 95 lists the parent devices of the PCI ports, the serial
interface.
6.
Select the National Instruments interface you are attempting to install,
as shown in Figure B-1.
