• Medical Device Regulation (EU) 2017/745
8.3

Electromagnetic interference

EMI stands for Electromagnetic Interference, which is an electromagnetic
emission that causes a disturbance in another piece of electrical equipment.
EMI can be caused by anything that carries rapidly changing electrical
currents, for example mobile telephones, large medical equipment, or other
sources of electromagnetic radiation. Modifications to the device can make it
more susceptible to EMI. There is no easy way to evaluate the effect of a
modification on the overall EMI of the device.
