Forced Expiratory Flow between the 25%
and 75% volume points or Mean Mid Expiratory
Flow, expressed as average flow during the middle
half of the maneuver.
See PEF
Forced Expiratory Volume (timed) in liters. The
volume of air that is exhaled during the first second
of an FVC maneuver. It is decreased by an airflow
limitation or obstruction of the patient's airways.
The largest Forced Expiratory Volume in liters of any
maneuver done by the patient. It usually is from the
best maneuver, but may not be from the same
maneuver as the best FVC.
The ratio of FEVl to FVC, expressed as a
percentage.
Forced Vital Capacity expressed in liters. The
amount of air that can be exhaled during a rapid
forced exhalation. It may be reduced due to
disorders causing lung restriction, airflow limitation
causing air trapping, or a poor inspiratory effort by
the patient during testing.
The largest Forced Vital Capacity of any maneuver
done by the patient. It usually comes from the best
maneuver, but may not come from the same
maneuver as the best FEVl.
The graph obtained from a forced
exhalation maneuver plotted with flow on the vertical
axis and volume on the horizontal axis.
See FEF 25-75%.
