INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS

MVV results have been found to correlate with the degree of dysp-
nea and the level of disability. An abnormal result may be caused by
obstructive or restrictive lung diseases, respiratory muscle weak-
ness, poor physical conditioning or neurological diseases. However,
it should be noted that abnormal results could be produced by poor
patient effort during the test.
