Upshifting
Always start moving the coach forward with the
transmission in first gear, then shift to second,
third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh gears (if
applicable). Do not skip gears. Do not shift to the
next higher gear until the engine speed has
reached 1,900 rpm.

Downshifting
Double-clutching
is
downshifting. Always change to a lower gear to
avoid engine lugging.
driving uphill or downhill, and when driving on ice,
snow or mud (minimum 1,400 rpm).
Use lower gears when driving downhill to make
full use of engine compression.
engine operate above 2,450 rpm.
Under normal driving conditions, it is not always
necessary to
downshift
Downshift from seventh to first gear after bringing
the coach to a complete stop.
CAUTION:
NEVER
OPERATE ABOVE 2,450 RPM.
CAUTION:
ALWAYS LEAVE THE SHIFT
SELECTOR IN NEUTRAL WHEN THE COACH
IS PARKED.
CAUTION:

PREVENT

DESCENDING A LONG OR STEEP GRADE,

GEAR.

FREQUENT BRAKING WHICH WILL RESULT IN
BRAKE
OVERHEATING
