FRONT WHEEL AND BRAKE DISC
CHECKING THE FRONT BRAKE DISC
1. Check:
• brake disc
Damage/friction --> Replace.
2. Measure:
• brake disc deflection
Out of specification --> correct the brake
disc deflection or replace.
Deflection limit (maximum)
0.10 mm (0.04 in)
a. Place the vehicle on a suitable stand so that
the front wheel is elevated.
b. Before measuring the brake disc deflection,
rock the handlebar to the left or right to ensure
that the front wheel is balanced.
c. Remove the brake calipers.
d. Keep the gauge in a straight angle to the brake
disc surface.
e. Measure the deflection at 3.0mm below the
brake disc border.
3. Measure:
• front disc thickness
Measure the front disk thickness at different
points.
Out of specification --> Replace
Thickness limit (minimum)
3.5 mm (0.14 in)
