1. Adjust:
• Compression damping
a. Turn the adjusting bolt "1" in direction "a"
or "b".
Direction "a"
Compression damping is increased
(suspension is harder).
Direction "b"
Compression damping is decreased
(suspension is softer).

ADJUSTING THE PRELOAD OF THE FRONT
FORK LEGS (for YZF-R1M)
The following procedure applies to both of the
front fork legs.

WARNING
Securely support the vehicle so that there is
no danger of it falling over.
Spring preload
EWA17040
WARNING
Always adjust both front fork legs evenly.
Uneven adjustment can result in poor han-
dling and loss of stability.
ECA13590
NOTICE
Never go beyond the maximum or minimum
adjustment positions.
1. Adjust:
• Spring preload
a. Turn the main switch to "OFF".
b. Slide the rubber cover "1" back at each
coupler.
c. Disconnect the coupler "2" on each front
fork.
