Eiconcard Connections for Windows 2000/XP - P-Series

Eiconcard Connections for Windows 2000/XP - P-Series enables stand-alone PCs or
multiple users on a Local Area Network (LAN) to make very high speed connections to a
wide area network (WAN). These connections include Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) WAN
Miniport using Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS), and Frame Relay LAN
emulation, and SNA (X.25 and SDLC) connections using Microsoft Host Integration
Server.
Typically, these connections are made through the Eiconcard to external communications
equipment (including CSUs, DSUs, and synchronous and asynchronous modems) to
provide access to WAN lines. Direct connections to a host computer or to another
Eiconcard are also supported.
P-Series Eiconcards support Frame Relay LAN emulation, PPP WAN Miniport, HDLC
Technical Highlights
Eiconcard P-Series VHSI ports support:
• Frame Relay LAN emulation, PPP WAN Miniport using RAS, SNA (X.25 and SDLC)
connections using Microsoft Host Integration Server, and SNA over Frame Relay
connections using Microsoft Host Integration Server, HDLC Framing/Clear Channel
• LAN Protocols: IP, IPX
• Request for Comments (RFCs):
RFC 1490: Multiprotocol Interconnect over Frame Relay (Encapsulation,
Segmentation, and ARP (Address Resolution Protocol))
RFC 1293: Inverse Address Resolution Protocol (ARP)
• 256 KB memory per port (66% of memory is assigned to receive buffers)
• 6 Mbps per port (full duplex) for a total of 8 Mbps (full duplex). Full duplex allows you
to have 6 Mbps on one port and 2 Mbps on the other port (receive or transmit) at the
same time
