Upgrading from Eiconcard Connections for Windows 2000

If you are currently running Eiconcard Connections for Windows 2000, you can upgrade
directly from the Universal Connections Suite CD. Simply run the ecupdate.exe file located
in the Windows\W2k-XP\Connections for Windows 2000-XP folder on the CD.

Upgrading from Eiconcard Connections for Windows NT

If you are currently running Eiconcard Connections for Windows NT on a Windows NT 4.0
computer, you cannot upgrade to Eiconcard Connections for Windows 2000/XP since it
must be installed on a Windows 2000 or Windows XP computer.
However, if you are using S-Series or C-Series Eiconcards, it is possible to export the
configuration file from your Eiconcard Connections for Windows NT (V3R4b and later)
computer to a new installation of Eiconcard Connections for Windows 2000/XP. Follow the
procedure below.
Exporting and Importing a configuration file
The procedure below describes how to export and import a configuration file from an
Eiconcard Connections for Windows NT computer to an Eiconcard Connections for
Windows 2000/XP computer.
Important: This procedure is supported only for C-Series and S-Series Eiconcards,
and you must ensure that the imported configuration is compatible with the target
Eiconcard.
1. On your Eiconcard Connections for Windows NT computer, start the Eicon
Configuration Program as follows:
Click Start, point to Programs, point to Eicon (Common), point to Eiconcards, and
click Eicon Configuration.
2. On the File menu in the Eicon Configuration Program, click Export, and follow the
prompts to create the configuration file. Save this file on diskette or other safe location.
3. Remove the Eiconcard Connections for Windows NT software.
4. Copy the configuration file (eccfg.eic) you created and saved in step 2, to the
system32\eicon folder.
5. Click Start, and the click Run.
6. In the Run dialog box, type C:\winnt\system32\eicon\ecadmin.exe /import (where C:
is the drive where Windows NT is installed), and click OK. This will automatically import
a previously created Eicon Configuration file (eccfg.eic). The eccfg.eic file must be in
the %Systemroot%\system32\eicon folder for this command to function.
Changes will not take effect until all Eiconcard services are stopped and restarted or you
restart the computer. For information on stopping and starting Eiconcard services, refer
to the "How do I?" section of the Online Guide.
