  • Page 58: Friction Clutch

6 - WORKING OPERATIONS Friction clutch To ensure a long life for your tractor and implement, the implement is equipped with a friction clutch on the Power Take-Off (PTO) drive shaft between the tractor and the implement. The purpose of the friction clutch is to protect the transmis- sion from overload when you work in the field and when you start the implement (connection of the PTO).
  • Page 59: Transmission Securing Against Overload

6 - WORKING OPERATIONS Transmission securing against overload NOTE: The tractor driver can secure the transmission against overload. When you use the implement, consider the following steps: 1. Always start the implement with the engine running at low speed. This especially applies to tractors with electro-hydraulic connection of the Power Take-Off (PTO) shaft.

  • Page 63: Working Area

6 - WORKING OPERATIONS Working area The cutting unit of the implement can move vertically in re- lation to the carrying and pulling headstock. This enables the cutting unit to follow the ground while the headstock follows the movements of the tractor. The cutting unit can move about 550 mm (21.65 in) ver- tically in relation to the headstock.
  • Page 64: Cutting Angle

6 - WORKING OPERATIONS Cutting angle The implement is equipped with a suspension that en- sures that the cutting angle is following the ground when working in the field. This is very useful when you drive on hilly ground since this suspension ensures an approximately constant stub- ble height.
  • Page 65 6 - WORKING OPERATIONS To obtain a new correct adjustment of the implement with the changed cutting angle, proceed as follows: 1. To obtain the desired cutting angle, change the length of the top link (3). To adjust the top link, relieve the top link first.
  • Page 66: Adjustment Of The Relief System

6 - WORKING OPERATIONS Adjustment of the relief system To spare the stubble during the work, reduce the wear of the skids and ensure good ground following abilities, relieve the implement by means of two strong horizontal tension springs. The relief system works as follows. The two springs (1) are fastened on pins on the central parallel arm (2).
  • Page 67 6 - WORKING OPERATIONS To increase or reduce the relief, adjust the tensioning of the two horizontal springs. Lift the cutting unit until the springs have minimum tension. There is access to the springs from below. 1. Loosen the counter nut (4). 2.

  • Page 71 6 - WORKING OPERATIONS Turning When you turn in the field, lift the cutting unit from the ground. NOTE: Noise may occur from the PTO shaft between trac- tor and implement when you lift the implement completely during turning. The noise is due to the angle of the shaft and is practically of no importance because the torque of the shaft is minimal in this situation.
  • Page 72: Stone Release

6 - WORKING OPERATIONS Stone release If the implement hits an obstacle (foreign matter or un- evenness on the ground) the suspension has been con- structed to work as a stone release. When the cutting unit (1) meets an obstacle (2) and you continue driving forward, the cutting unit moves to the rear and up and the cutter bar turns backwards.
  • Page 73: Guards

6 - WORKING OPERATIONS Guards When you maintain the implement you often need to open or remove guards. The front guard, which must not be lifted for transport, have for safety reasons been fitted with a lock. The lock ensures that the guard cannot be opened without tools. To open the front guard, push down the holder (1) and lift the front guard at the same time.

6 - WORKING OPERATIONS Conditioner GXF 3205P and GXF 3605P are equipped with a condi- tioner rotor with polyethylene (PE) fingers. The conditioner rotates with 1000 RPM and is belt-driven. A spring-pretensioned tension pulley holds tight the belts. To adjust the degree of conditioning, regulate the distance between the conditioner plate (1) and the conditioner fin- gers (2) on the rotor.
