The serial port provides basic communication RS‐232 serial‐data transfer through a
terminal emulation program (such as Hyperterminal). Because messages from the
power‐on self‐test (POST) and all initialization information are transmitted
through the serial port, you can use the serial port to log in to the switch and access
and configure the internal switching firmware.
