7.10.5.1 Hardware Considerations
Use for replacement the Monitor and Control (M&C) Assembly for rack-mount units and RS485
serial interface, ADVANTECH P/N 210-250754-212.
The Monitor and Control Board is easily reachable after the top cover of the unit is removed.
Before removing the top cover, put the unit OFF and unplug it from the AC supply. Wear a
grounding wrist-strap when working with the Monitor and Controller Board. Unplug all
connectors to the board (after carefully noting the place and position of each connector, in order
to be able to connect them on the new board). The board may be freed by removing the screws
that keep it in place. Place the new Monitor and Control Board in position and tighten the
mounting screws. Replace all connectors to the board exactly in the same place and the same
position as they were on the old one.
CAUTION:
Always wear a grounding wrist-strap when working with the Monitor and
Controller Board.
7.10.5.2 Software Considerations
The M & C Board that you are replacing contains specifically calibration data for your unit. In
order to load this data in the memory of the new controller, this data file should be loaded in
"PageB" of the controller memory. The calibration data files for each unit may be found on the
diskette received with this system. The name of the files are Axxxx.hex (for power table files)
and CURAxxxx.hex (for current calibration), where Axxxx is the serial number of the unit. The
Axxxx.hex file must be downloaded first and the CURAxxxx.hex subsequently.
In order to load this data file in the controller memory, follow the procedure in Section 4.3.2 at
page 29: go in Menu Page #3 (by pressing twice on function key F10) and the press function key
F9 (pageB) in order to load in page B of the memory. At the prompt type the name of the file you
want to load.
The unit should be in REMOTE in order to accomplish the data loading. See Section 5.4 at page
37.
Remember to check if the serial address of the unit with the new controller is identical with the
initial address of the unit. If it is different, use the procedure in Section 4.3.2 at page 29 (using
function key F7 in Menu Page #3 to change the address).
CAUTION:
An inadequate command by pressing F8 (for Page A) instead of F9 (for page
B) will completely disable the Monitor and Control Board.
