4.1 Warning Signs
4.1.1 Warning Symbols
Meanings of warning signs and labels on the
brushcutter, battery and charger:
Observe safety notices and take the
necessary precautions.
Read, understand and keep the User
Manual.
Wear safety glasses.
Observe the safety advice concerning
flying objects and associated meas‐
ures.
Remove the battery during work stop‐
pages, transport, storage, maintenance
or repair.
Protect brushcutter and charger from
rain and dampness.

Maintain a safety distance.

Protect battery from heat and fire.
Protect the battery from rain and mois‐
ture and do not immerse it in liquids.
Observe the permitted battery temper‐
ature range.
4.2 Intended Use
The STIHL FSA 57 trimmer is designed for mow‐
ing grass.
The trimmer must not be used in the rain.
The STIHL AK battery supplies power to the trim‐
mer.
The STIHL AL 101 charger recharges the STIHL
AK battery.
WARNING
■ Batteries and chargers not explicitly approved
for the trimmer by STIHL may cause a fire or
explosion. This can result in serious or fatal
injuries and damage to property.
► Use the trimmer with a STIHL AK battery.
► Recharge the STIHL AK bat‐
tery with a STIHL AL 101, AL
300 or AL 500 charger.
■ Using the trimmer, battery or the charger for
purposes for which they were not designed
may result in serious or fatal injuries, and
damage to property may occur.
► Use the trimmer, charger and battery as
described in this instruction manual.
4.3 The Operator
