This interface with harness will allow you to replace your factory stereo and retain important
power, communication and diagnostic functions in your vehicle. The interface will also retain
steering wheel controls (if equipped) when using a compatible aftermarket stereo.

The FD5000SW Interface module / harness will allow you to REPLACE the factory stereo and RETAIN the original power and communication signals. 2. Remove and unplug factory stereo. (If needed, call Scosche Tech Support 1 (800) 621-3695 x3 for stereo removal steps.) 3. Match and connect the appropriate wires from the FD5000SW harness to the appropriate wires of the plug provided with your stereo. For example, connect the yellow +12V Constant lead from your stereo to the yellow wire of the FD5000SW harness. (See wiring diagram section for additional information.) NOTE: If your vehicle is equipped with steering wheel controls and you are installing a compatible aftermarket stereo, see pages 8-9 for connection information. -

1. The Red +12V switched accessory wire coming from the FD5000SW interface is rated at 10 amps for use with a single Aftermarket stereo. Connecting additional accessories to this +12V power source can cause damage to the FD5000SW module. 2. There are wires connected ONLY between the FD5000SW interface plug and the vehicle connectors (under the insulating tape). Do not make any connections or cuts to these wires. 3. If your stereo does not contain an “Orange” illumination wire, then the orange wire will not be used. -

STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS 1. Determine if your vehicle has built-in stereo (audio) control buttons located on the steering wheel: a. If yes, proceed to step 2. b. If no, then disregard this steering wheel controls section. 2. Determine if your new stereo is compatible with steering wheel controls. - Page 9 STEERING WHEEL WIRING CODES 1. Prepare FD5000SW steering wheel connector by using the chart below. 2. Connect the harness to the interface module. 3. For Alpine, Clarion, JVC, Panasonic and car stereos, connect the 3.5mm male steering plug into the steering wheel input jack at the back of the stereo. 4. For Kenwood and newer JVC stereos, connect the BROWN wire from the steering wheel harness to the REMOTE IN wire at the back of the stereo.

When connected and installed per these instructions, the aftermarket stereo should operate normally. If using steering wheel controls and compatible stereo, refer to the diagram on page 8 for button functions.
