Bell/Diaphragm.
Using the buttons on the top of the stethoscope select the desired mode by pressing either the Heart
symbol (if auscultating the heart) or the Lung symbol (when auscultating the lungs).
Note these buttons are multi-function meaning once you select your filter set
(Heart or Lung) the same buttons become your volume controls. Inside the Lung
symbol is a "+" sign which is used to increase the volume, and within the Heart
symbol is a "-" sign used to decrease the volume. An audible "beep" can be
heard through the earpieces when the upper or lower
volume limits have been reached. To switch from
Heart to Lung mode, you first need to turn the unit off
and then select the other mode. Volume will need to be
readjusted every time you switch the unit off and back
on.
To change to diaphragm mode, (focusing on medium to high frequencies, -350 - 1900 Hz) simply turn
the stethoscope off and turn it back on using the upper part of the on-off button.
Note: Diaphragm mode is excellent for higher pitch murmurs, clicks and ejection sounds as well as pul-
monary sounds.
Note: Bell mode provides excellent detection for low and medium heart sounds and murmurs such as
diastolic rumbles, gallop rhythms, etc.
Volume.
Once the stethoscope is turned on in either Heart or Lung mode the volume can be ad-
justed by pressing the "+" sign located within the Lung symbol or the "-" sign located
within the Heart symbol to decrease the volume. The mode you select (Heart or Lung)
will not be affected by adjusting the volume as long as the stethoscope is not turned off.
Only by turning it off and then back on can you change the mode. When the volume is
at its upper or lower limit a "beep" can be heard through the earpieces. Whenever the unit
is initially turned on the volume is automatically set at a midway point.
Maximum amplification is 93 dB.

Headset adjustment.

The earpieces can be adjusted by rotating them for individual comfort. The eartips should be pointing
slightly forward to align with the ear canals. This will provide an optimum seal for the best sound.
