Scope of Manual This manual provides the user with the necessary information for the installation and ® operation of the LN backup system for New Brunswick Scientific’s Innova Premium ranges of Ultra Low Temperature Freezers. Description of Equipment The LN...
The control unit weighs 5.6 kg / 12.3 lbs. 1.3.3 Performance The LN backup system is capable of maintaining a maximum internal temperature of –80º C in an ambient temperature of +32º C. New Brunswick Scientific Co., Inc. User’s Guide...
The LN backup unit can maintain the internal temperature of a 410-liter (14.5 cu ft) or smaller upright freezer at -85 C maximum in an ambient temperature of C, if it is switched on when the internal temperature of the freezer is already C or lower.
• Maximum relative humidity 80% for temperature up to 31 C, decreasing linearly to 50% relative humidity at 40 • Power supply voltage fluctuations not to exceed ± 10% of nominal voltage • Installation category II • Pollution degree 2 New Brunswick Scientific Co., Inc. User’s Guide...

¼-inch or ~6mm metal rod or tube through the insulation to create a passage for the probe (be sure to keep the rod or tube perpendicular to the cabinet wall when you insert it through the insulation). New Brunswick Scientific Co., Inc. User’s Guide...
3. After creating the new hole, push the probe through the hole and pull enough probe cable through the hole to reach the freezer temperature probe, located approximately halfway down the front right corner, inside the freezer cabinet. 4. Remove the freezer probe cover inside the freezer cabinet and position the two sensors side by side.
½ and ⅜ inch NPT, to adapt the transfer line to the supplied Dewar if necessary. Before installation, verify, with your local gas supply company, the correct adaptor to use with the supplied Dewar. New Brunswick Scientific Co., Inc. User’s Guide...
2.2.5 Testing for Gas Leaks 1. Test the assembled joints for leaks: be sure all fittings are tight before continuing. 2. Turn on the LN supply and test each joint (including the LN Dewar connection) for leaks by using a liquid soap solution. Bubbling or foaming will identify a leak.

4. If the gap is greater than 3 mm (0.12 inch) or less than 1 mm (0.04 inch), loosen the screws and adjust the magnet in the slots provided until the gap is correct, then retighten the screws. New Brunswick Scientific Co., Inc. User’s Guide...
2.2.7 Installing the Control Unit Place the control unit (a) on the top of the Upright freezer, or (b) on the compressor compartment of the Chest freezer. Plug the cables from the LN injector valve, temperature probe and magnetic safety switch into the appropriate sockets on the rear of the control unit, as identified in Figure 2 below.
Page 22
The control unit is capable of operating within a wide voltage range: 100- 240VAC, 50/60Hz. Attach the appropriate power cord for your needs by POWER INPUT connecting the cord to its receptacle ( ) on the back panel. New Brunswick Scientific Co., Inc. User’s Guide...
Getting Started Plug the power cord into an appropriate power supply. The green Power On light will illuminate. Turn the System On switch to the On position. The control unit will beep. If the control unit has not been switched on for some time, the alarm may sound to indicate that the battery is low.
Temperature Warning and Valve Open lights should be off and the power light on. Upon successful completion of all of the above tests, your LN backup unit has now been installed and set-up, and is operating normally. New Brunswick Scientific Co., Inc. User’s Guide...
NOTES: (1) When you install the backup system, note the weight or liquid level of the LN Dewar and the date of installation. At the intervals recommended by the gas supplier, check the weight or liquid level of the Dewar. LN Dewars can lose gas over time (through the pressure relief valve), even when they are not in use;...

Supplies We recommend that a record sheet be placed on or near the freezer, and that a routine check of the liquid nitrogen remaining in the Dewar be allocated to a staff member. Record the measurements on the record sheet. All gas supplies can leak away with time. The majority of LN backup system failures are not equipment failures;...
