Gases and liquids from substances that con-
stitute a health hazard or react aggressively
can escape, even from securely closed con-
tainers. If you transport these substances
inside the vehicle, this may affect your health
and impair your concentration while you are
driving. It may also cause malfunctions or
electrical component system failures. There is
a risk of fire and accident.
Do not store or transport any substances in
the vehicle that are hazardous to health or
react aggressively.

Fuel consumption and the rate of engine,
transmission, brake and tyre wear depend on
the following factors:
the operating conditions of your vehicle

You can influence both factors. For this rea-
son, observe the following notes:
Operating conditions
avoid short trips as these increase fuel con-

sumption.
make sure that the tyre pressures are

always correct.
do not carry any unnecessary weight.

a regularly serviced vehicle will contribute

to environmental protection. You should
therefore adhere to the service intervals.
all maintenance work should be carried out

at a qualified specialist workshop.
Personal driving style
do not depress the accelerator pedal when

starting the engine.
do not warm up the engine with the vehicle
R
stationary.
drive carefully and maintain a safe distance

from the vehicle in front.
avoid frequent and heavy acceleration and

braking.
change gear in good time and use each gear

only up to Ô of its maximum engine speed.
switch off the engine when waiting in sta-

tionary traffic.
keep an eye on the vehicle's fuel consump-

Notes on driving

There is a risk of damage to the vehicle if:
the vehicle becomes stuck, e.g. on a high kerb

or an unpaved road
you drive too fast over an obstacle, e.g. a

kerb, a speed bump or a pothole in the road
a heavy object strikes the underbody or parts

of the chassis
In such situations, the body, frame, underbody,
chassis parts, wheels or tyres could be damaged
without the damage being visible. Components
damaged in this way can unexpectedly fail or, in
the case of an accident, no longer withstand the
strain they are designed for. If the underbody
panelling is damaged, combustible materials
