Elevating Legrest– if so equipped (Fig. 9)
To elevate:
Pull the footrest upward to adjust it to the desired height. Footrest will engage automati-
cally in place.
To lower:
Lift the lower leg and press the release lever (A) to unlock the footrest. You may now lower
the footrest. As soon as you let go of the lever, the footrest will lock back into place.
To Remove:
Depress release lever (B), swing out and then lift off.
Keep hands clear of the adjustment mechanism between the frame and the
movable parts of the footrest while elevating or lowering the footrest.
Legrests are not to be used for lifting or carrying the wheelchair with an occupant.
Stump Pad– if so equipped
Your chair may be equipped with an amputee stump pad. Angle support appropriately for
maximum comfort and support.
G. CASTERS (Figs. 10, 11, 12)
Casters should always be adjusted by an authorized dealer.
Caster Angle Adjustment
The angle of the caster should be checked whenever there is an adjustment to the seat to
floor height (STFH) to ensure proper orientation.
To adjust, remove the plastic cap and caster nut (C). Remove stem bolt from caster
housing. Remove hex collar (D) and reorient as follows:
Level seat (i.e. front and rear STFH are equal) = Double notch on top and to rear (E)
Rear STFH is 1" lower than front STFH = Single notch on top and to rear (F)
Rear STFH is 2" lower than front STFH = Double notch on top and to front (G)
To ensure proper alignment desired notch on hex collar must be on the top of the housing
and on the rearward/forward edge as indicated above on both sides of chair. Replace stem
bolt and caster nut to appropriate torque setting (see section XII. TORQUE).
Caster Position – Front Seat to Floor Height Adjustment – see Seat Height Matrix.
Front STFH is adjusted by:
1. Using a smaller/larger diameter caster wheel (6" or 8").
2. Remove caster axle (H) and position in alternate fork position (1").
3. Reorient caster stem spacers (I).
Remove plastic cap and caster nut (C). Remove stem bolt from caster housing (J).
Reorient 1" spacers for desired STFH. Options are:
2 spacers above housing = lowest
1 spacer above and 1 below housing = middle
2 spacers below housing = highest
NOTE–
Alteration to front STFH, unless done in a 1 to 1 ratio with the rear STFH, will require Caster
Angle Adjustment as previously described.
