This section describes the procedures and equipment for connecting
and programming Actel's ProASIC devices with Silicon Explorer II.
Actel includes the ISP Kit to facilitate ISP (in-system programming) of
ProASIC 500K devices.
1. Power down the board.
2. Remove the plug-in connector from the programming header
on the board.
3. Plug the programming ribbon cable into the programming
header of the target board and Silicon Explorer II.
4. Power up Silicon Explorer with the supplied 5V power jack.
5. Launch Explore. Select Explore from the Designer menu under
Programs in the Start menu.
6. Select a bit (.bit) file to open. Select the Open command from the
File menu. Choose (*.bit) as the File type and double-click the
desired programming (.bit) file. Refer to the ASICmaster User's
Guide for more information on how to export a .bit file from
ASICmaster.
7. Program the device. The Command module activates when you
open a programming (.bit) file and displays device/design
