Interrupting the
Sequence
This section describes programming ProASIC devices, making I/O
considerations during ISP (in-system programming), and programming
voltages in Silicon Explorer II.
Before programming a device, you must generate a programming file
in a bitstream (.bit) format using ASICmaster
ASICmaster User's Guide for information about generating a
programming file. Silicon Explorer II uses this programming file.
Before programming a device, check the following:
• Make sure all signals driving the device are 2.5V; Actel recommends
that you power down the board during programming.
• Connect only ProASIC parts to the switching voltage supplies.
• Do not interrupt the programming sequence.
• Take precautions to reduce noise on the TCK and RCK signals.
• Take all ESD protection measures.
Avoid interrupting the programming sequence. Interruptions in the
programming sequence may result in unpredictable behavior of a
partially programmed device. Also, incorrectly programmed switches
can cause high-current flow through the circuitry, which can damage
the device permanently.
