USE CASES
Starting UP
(*) When starting up the machine for the first time it will fill the boiler with water in about 90 seconds. This will be noisy because the boiler is empty.
(**) Tip: To prevent the machine to make pumping noise in an early morning, extract hot water from water tap during day-time up to the point that boiler re-fills itself. The boiler is now full when starting up the machine the next morning.
Start up the machine by pull the power switch to the right side. The
signal indicators will go on. The machine will be ready in ~13 minutes.
In the meantime, check if the drip tray is empty and
clamp the portafilter to the brew group (without
coffee grind) so that it warms up together with the
machine.
Explanation of the start-up procedure:
1.
Boiler heating: After about 3 minutes, you can hear a slight hissing caused by
steam coming out of the drain. After a short time this ends and
the boiler pressure builds up to ~ 1.2 bar. After ~4 minutes
from start, the targeted pressure has been reached, and the
signal indicator for the boiler pressure goes off. From now
onwards, the boiler will be regularly re-heated to maintain the
correct water temperature.
2.
Brew group heating: The brew group will be heated ~8 minutes by the heat
elements in the brew group (indicator on), then overheated ~1 minute by the
heat elements (indicator will blink
fast), and after that the heat
elements will be turned off, and
the brew group will now fully rely
on the boiler heat and cool down
to reach the target temperature
(indicator will blink slowly). If the
indicator turns off, the machine is
ready for coffee extraction.
