    Summary Making Espresso Start the machine Push the power switch (1) to the right, and let it return to the middle position by loosening it. Connect the empty portafilter immediately to the brew group (5). The machine and portafilter will warm up now. After about 12 minutes the machine will be warm when only the top light indicator is on.

  • Page 8 machine parts 2: Extraction Switch Single extraction Push the switch to the right, and let it return to the middle position. A 30 second extraction will start; the first 5 seconds are to start up the pump slowly, then 25 seconds for coffee extraction.

    machine parts 5: Brew Group The brew group is the central entity that connects the portafilter holder containing the coffee grind. The filter holder should be turned approx. 45° to the left, inserted with the wings in the brew group, and finally clamped counter-clockwise (the brew group can slightly move in the clamping direction).

    machine parts 10: Water Tank The 2.4 liter water tank is the source of water for hot water, steam and coffee. It can be reached from the top (12) or from the side (10). The tank should be positioned correctly towards the sensor (on the right side at the back of the machine, see sticker), otherwise the machine assumes there is no water in the tank.

It is combined with a fuse and a switch, to enable/disable mains supply.

    The Xenia espresso machine is a household machine that can be used to make espresso, cappuccino and similar drinks in conjunction with a suitable grinder. Professional use of the machine is not foreseen. INSTALLING Get GOING As with all devices connected to the mains and with heaters or a pressure vessel, care must be taken to avoid injury.

    Use Cases Preparing Coffee After starting and heating up the machine, an extraction can be started. Depending on the amount of coffee required, a single or dual extraction can be started with the extraction switch. After the portafilter is filled with ground coffee and tamped with a tamper, the filter holder should be clamped in the machine as soon as possible.

    For correct milk foaming hold the steam wand diagonally into the milk just below the surface (about 0.25 l for a 0.5 liter jug). Since the Xenia has no rigid steam wand, that's pretty easy. The goal is to mix only slightly sipping air under the milk when frothing.
