ning it counter clockwise, the unit can then
be tilted up or down with the units' handle
(7). Lock the unit into the desired position by
turning the clamp lever (8) clockwise. The
clamp lever may be moved to a more conve-
nient position by pulling it away from the unit
and turning it into the desired position.
4. Mains connection
The unit is factory-set to 220-240 V / 50-60
Hz or 110-130 V / 50-60 Hz AC voltage.
Before making any connection make sure
that the mains voltage match the indications
on the type label (19).
5. Putting into operation
Plug the power cable into the socket (18)
and secure it with the provided security
clamp (9). Then plug the power cable into a
wall outlet. Remove the protection cap by
turning it counter clockwise and gently pul-
ling it. Attach the desired accessory to the
bayonet mount (see „11. Changing light sha-
pers"). Press the „I-0" button (1) to start up
the unit. Disconnect the unit from the mains
upon completion of operation.
6. Continuos energy control
The energy ouput can be controlled con-
tinuosly over four f-stops (1/8 – 1/1) via the
energy control dial (6). The modelling light
follows the flash output proportionally. The
control dial is equipped with a grating.
7. Optical „Ready" Signal
After firing, the unit re-charges automatically
fort he next flash. As soon as the charging
cycle has ended the modelling light lights up
again and the unit is ready for the next flash.
8. Synchronisation
There are three possible ways of synchro-
nizing the unit(s) with a camera:
1. Plug the supplied sync cable (MASYG,
Art.-Nr. 732045) into the units' sync termi-
nal (5) on the operating panel and connect
it to your camera. In a multi-flash set-up
the sync cable only needs to be connec-
ted to the master-unit, all other slave-units
will fire without delay, triggered by their
built-in
IR-receiver/photocell
Remember to activate the IR-recei-
8
ver/photocell on each slave-unit (See "10.
IR-Receiver/Photocell"").
2. The unit(s) may also be fired without a
sync cable using an IR-remote trigger
(MUSEN, Art.-Nr. 719037). Attach the IR-
remote trigger to your cameras' flash
shoe. The flash units' IR-receiver/photo-
cell must be activated by pressing the
corresponding pushbutton (2). The unit(s)
will fire synchronously with the camera
when it is being triggered. In a multi-flash
set-up, activate the IR-receiver/photocell
on each unit by pressing the correspon-
ding pushbutton (2) (See „10. IR-
Receiver/Photocell").
3. The unit(s) may also be fired using a radio
triggering sytem (MUR-AS-RT, MURAS-
RT, Art.-Nr. 620200). Attach the transmit-
ter (MURAS-T, Art.-Nr. 620201) to the
cameras' flash shoe, attach the receiver
(MURAS-R, Art.-Nr. 620202) to the flash
unit by plugging the supplied sync cable
(MASYG, Art.-Nr. 732045) into the units'
sync terminal (5). In a multi-flash set-up,
only one flash unit need to be linked to the
receiver; all other units will fire without
delay, triggered by their built-in IR-recei-
ver/photocell (3). Remenber to activate
the IR-receiver/photocell on each unit by
pressing the corresponding pushbutton
(2) (See „10. IR-Receiver/Photocell").
For more information on the MURAS-RT
system please refer to the corresponding
user manual.
9. „TEST"-Button
Use the „TEST" button (4) to check if all
units in a multi-flash set-up are ready for
firing. Remember to activate the IR-recei-
ver/photocell on each unit by pressing the
corresponding pushbutton (2) (See „10. IR-
Receiver / Photocell"). When the „TEST" (4)
button is pressed all units should fire simul-
taneously.
10. IR-Receiver/Photocell
The IR-receiver/the so called photocell can
be switched on and off by actuating the cor-
responding pushbutton (2). The IR-recei-
(3).
ver/photocell is active when the pushbutton
(2) is pressed.
