  • Page 4 The term dipole refers to any two-sided object that emits waves (or absorbs them, in the case of microphones) in a figure-eight pattern. In the VRS, this pattern is created by employing drivers that are “out of phase” with one another.
  • Page 5 V R S S U R R O U N D The VRS cabinet is sculpted to blend with a room’s decor and aim sound along walls rather than at the listener. Inside: dual 2 ⁄ ”(65mm) high frequency drivers, each in its own enclosure. One fires sound forward, the other backward.

    H O W C O N N E C T You need to wire your speakers correctly to obtain the best sound quality. Wiring should just take a few minutes, but it’s important to do it carefully, since incorrect wiring (such as reversed connections) can result in a poor surround effect.

  • Page 8 H O W P L A C E S P E A K E R S Room placement is one of the most important factors contributing to home theater sound quality. Taking a few minutes to place your speakers correctly ensures that your speakers will sound their best.
  • Page 9 Place the speakers to either side of the listening area. Avoid placing the speaker less than 20 inches (50cm) from an adjacent wall. One or both speakers may be placed on the ceiling. Hang the speaker so the arrow points toward the front of the theater area.
  • Page 10 Simply attach the supplied hang- er to the wall or ceiling, and clip the speaker to the hanger. If necessary, you may locate the VRS on top of furniture or shelving. You may run speaker wires to the speaker on the wall’s surface or behind the wall.
  • Page 11 H O W You can paint the surface and grilles of your speakers. You will need: A fast-drying spray-can primer paint, such as Krylon Sandable ® Spray Primer #1318. Your choice of paint — oil or water-based house paint, or spray paint.
