TERM
DESCRIPTION
Association of American Railroads – An organization that establishes
AAR:
uniformity and standardization among different railroad systems.
American Railroad Equipment Manufacturing Association – An organization
AREMA:
that supersedes AAR.
Advanced Train Control System – A set of standards compiled by the AAR
ATCS:
for controlling all aspects of train operation.
External Configuration Device – A serial EEPROM (Flash Memory) device
ECD:
mounted inside the chassis of the GEO unit. The ECD is used to store site-
specific configuration data (MCF, SIN, UCN, and card parameters) for the
CPU.
EX Value
Is the phase of the received signal, which is the measure of the impedance
of the track ballast. This measurement identifies how much current is leaking
from one rail to another.
EZ Value
Is the measure of the received signal level.
Module Executable File – The executive software running in the CPU or I/O
MEF:
Modules. The user can download the MEF through the Diag port to update
the software.
Module Configuration File – The GCP application logic file.
MCF:
Site Identification Number – The 12-digit ATCS address for the The SIN has
