2. Installing a replacement optical mechanism unit
2-1. Replace the γ data flash memory (IC1018) - on the output PWB that has been taken out in "1. Removing the
optical mechanism unit" - with the γ data flash memory (IC1018) of a replacement optical mechanism unit. Be
careful not to confuse the IC's orientation.
2-2. Attach the output PWB and shielding case (bottom) on the replacement optical mechanism unit (by taking
Steps 1-12 and 1-13 in reverse order). Do not attach the shielding case (top) at this stage.
2-3. Attach the lamp box on the replacement optical mechanism unit.
2-4. Take Steps 1-2 thru 1-10 as well as 1-15 in reverse order to fit the new unit into position.
3. Adjusting the LCD panel circuitry
3-1. Adjust the LCD panel counter voltage.
» Feed an external white signal.
(1) Call the process mode and make the entire screen in red.
· On the process mode menu screen, select the GAMMA mode.
· Using the remote controller, select G3.
(This step is not necessary when the R, G and B colors can be selected with the external signal.)
(2) On the process mode VIDEO-2 menu, select 10 CB-R.
(3) Using the remote controller, adjust the counter voltage level until the vertical scroll becomes least visible on
the screen. (Change the CB-R setting.)
Do the same for the green and blue colors.
Green: CB-G, Blue: CB-B
3-2. Adjusting the white-to-white voltage
Adjust the white-to-white voltage of each of the R, G and B colors to its specific level of the replacement optical
mechanism unit.
» Feed an external white signal.
TP1448: GREEN
TP1449: BLUE
TP1450: RED
White-to-white voltage
(Vp-p)
(1) Connect the oscilloscope to TP1807 for red (TP1808 for green, TP1809 for blue) and observe the white-to-
white voltage.
(2) On the process mode VIDEO-2 menu, select R-GAIN for red (G-GAIN for green, B-GAIN for blue). Adjust the
voltage of each of the R, G and B colors on the oscilloscope screen to its specific level of the replacement
optical mechanism unit.
Take this procedure for all the R, G and B colors.
4. Reassembling
4-1. Place the shielding case (top) of the output PWB on top of the optical mechanism unit. Using the 5 screws, fix
the case.
4-2. Dress the leads.
4-3. Place and fix the rear cover with the 12 rear cover lock screws, 8 terminal panel lock screws and 3 power PWB
unit lock screws.
Make sure that the signal level is 0.7 Vp-p at each of the following test points.
