DHW Frost Protection

The Indirect Water Heater (IDWH) Sensor used in the
Prestige Excellence provides a Frost Protection feature
to the water heater. The Frost Protection feature is de-
signed to protect the Excellence water heater from
a potential freeze up. Frost Protection will generate
a DHW call once the IDWH temperature falls below
42º F [6ºC]. Once Frost Protection is activated, the inter-
nal circulator and diverter valve will direct water flow
to the water heater and the burner will fire. Frost Pro-
tection will end once the IDWH temperature is raised
to 60ºF [16ºC]. This feature is always active and cannot
be disabled. Frost Protection is still active even if DHW
operation has been disabled.
