RECOIL STARTER

CHECKING THE RECOIL STARTER

1. Check:
9 Starter rope
Wear/damage → Replace.
9 Starter case
Cracks/damage → Replace.
9 Starter spring
Dirt → Clean and apply grease.
Wear/damage → Replace.
2. Check:
9 Drive pawls 1
9 Drive plate 2
Wear/damage → Replace.
9 Springs 3
9 Compression spring 4
Cracks/damage → Replace.

ASSEMBLING THE RECOIL STARTER

1. Install:
9 Starter rope 1
9 Starter spring 2
9 Sheave drum 3
TIP
Engage the spring hook a with the drum slit,
then wind the spring counterclockwise into the
drum from the larger to the smaller diameter.
2. Install:
9 Sheave drum assembly
TIP
Engage the spring hook a with the starter
case hook b.
3. Install:
9 Springs 1
9 Drive pawls 2
TIP
Set the ends of the springs 1 outside the
drive pawls 2.
