Replacing gauge parts (presser foot, needle plate and feed dog)

There are points to note which must be followed when replacing gauge parts such as the presser foot, needle plate
and feed dog.
Replacing the stopper
If using the presser foot, needle plate and feed dog for a zigzag width of something other than 8 mm, needle
breakages may occur when the sewing machine is operating, so be sure to limit the zigzag width and replace the
stopper.
Stopper
Depending on specifications, some sewing machines may have a stopper for sizes other than 8 mm installed
as a standard part. In such a case, check the size by means of dimension A and the color.
• If using the optional presser foot and needle plate for a zigzag width of 5 mm, replace the stopper with one for 5
mm (black).
• If using the special-order presser foot and needle plate for a zigzag width of 3 mm, replace the stopper with one
for 3 mm (blue).
• If using the optional presser foot and needle plate for a zigzag width of 10 mm, replace the stopper with one for
10 mm (white, A=18 mm)

Remove the two screws (1), and then remove the
stopper plate (2).

Remove the stopper (3) which is inserted into the
stopper plate (2), and then install the stopper (3)
which matches the presser foot and needle plate.

Install the stopper plate (2) to the machine head,
and then securely tighten the two screws (1).

Turn on the power.

Set the zigzag width to the maximum width for the gauge parts.

Turn the machine pulley by hand and check that the needle does not touch any of the needle holes in the
gauge parts, and that the needle bar does not touch the stopper (3).
