Manufacturer's product liability

Note
Product liability claims are valid only if the spare parts purchased have been re-

The necessary operating instructions for retrofitting, removal and installation
must be followed.
The manufacturer's product liability shall be excluded if at least one of the following
criteria applies:
Original Siemens spare parts are not used.
Fitters carrying out replacements are not sufficiently qualified (see "Qualified
personnel" on page 5).
Parts have been incorrectly fitted or adjusted.

General safety instructions

The following safety instructions must be observed and apply to all subsequent
chapters. The safety instructions must always be observed in addition to the instruc-
tions given in the individual sections.
DANGER
High voltage – danger to life!
Touching live parts is fatal or causes serious physical injury.
Before beginning maintenance work, note the 5 safety rules for high-voltage
equipment specified in EN 50110-1, namely:
Disconnect from the power supply
Secure against re-connection
Verify safe isolation from the power supply
Earth and short-circuit
Cover or cordon off neighbouring live parts
Checking the vacuum contactor in the panel with applied high voltage is allowed only
after full functionality has been determined (see"Commissioning" on page 37).
CAUTION
Material damage caused by electrostatic discharge to the electronic con-
troller
Electrostatic discharge can cause material damage to the electronic controller
and restrict its functionality.
Prior to touching electronic components and before removing the connector
plugs, discharge any existing electrostatic charges on hands or tools by touching
earthed surfaces.
