General
The snow chains have been introduced to
improve the grip of the driven wheels when
driving and braking on snow and ice covered
roads. They are not intended for any other use.
For safety reasons, never drive faster than the
recommended speed limit of 50 km/h. This
speed limit may be even lower in some countries.
Respect the speed limit!
Avoid heavy acceleration and wheel spin since
this gives considerable wear of the chains. Keep
in mind that the chains' service life is directly
related to driving style. Careful driving increases
service life of the chains.
NOTE
The car's driving characteristics change if the
car is equipped with snow chains. On roads
without ice or snow, the car's braking
distance is longer. Always adapt your driving
to the current road conditions.
Always follow the car manufacturer's instructions
for use of snow chains when this is described in
the car's owner's manual. This also applies to
cars with four-wheel drive.
Air pressure in tires stated by the manufacturer
also apply when using snow chains.
Check that the tire dimension stated on the
package matches with the tire dimension on your
car.
CAUTION
The designations must be absolutely identical
since there is a considerable difference
between, e.g., 225/60 R 16 and 225/55 R 16.
The snow chains have been developed to fit tire
dimensions for summer and winter tires
according to DIN and ETRTO.
If it is not possible to find snow chains of the right
size and with correct fit (see manual), they
should not be used. In that case, contact your
dealer.
The snow chains must only be used in pairs on
the driven wheels. For four wheel drive
operation, the snow chains can be fitted on the
front wheels. The car must not be driven if the
snow chains are not correctly fitted. Ensure that
the chain is evenly aligned over the entire wheel.
If the chain is incorrectly positioned it may knock
against other parts of the vehicle.
Before driving off, check that the chain is
correctly fitted. After a long period of driving,
check the chains again to ensure that they are
still correctly fitted.
Be sure to follow these instructions carefully. If
instructions are not followed, there may be
