    Let’s assemble the major fuselage sub assemblies. Assemble Fuselage sides and formers F9, F10, F11, FB1, FT1, FB2, and H1. Align parts with rolled plan sheet and wick CA into joints. FB2a FB2b FB2c © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.
  • Page 6 DO NOT apply glue to SR1 joints. Key former FT1 to fuselage sides and F2. Invert on flat work surface and tack glue FT1 along tab and notch joints at fuselage sides. © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.
  • Page 7 Dry fit parts F8A and F8B together as indicated below. Install between fuselage sides and tack glue into position (see illustrations). Install FB2 to fuselage sides spanning F8. Work fuselage side tabs into notches in FB2 tack glue sides into position. © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.

Take your time and study the illustrations below prior to committing any part with glue.   • Page 13 Formers F6/7 span the fuselage sides while the BT1 battery tray spans F6/F7/F2/and Keys into slot provided in F1. Run liberal amounts of thin CA along joints especially ply to balsa joints. I like to double the ply to balsa joints with a thin fillet of Thick CA or 5 minute epoxy (preferred). © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.
  • Page 14 If a significant amount of resistance is felt: remove and slightly sand. Repeat this process until the tail feathers fit. Some friction / resistance is desirable – as long as it is slight and you are not stressing the fuselage trying to force the fit. © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.
  • Page 15 At this point it is a very good idea to lightly sand both sides of the wing ribs and spar. It is also a good time to consider lightly sanding the burn marks from the edges of the ribs – be very gentle as the assembly is quite delicate at this point. © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.
  • Page 16 Ply). Carefully observe keying if something doesn’t seem to fit properly check your assembly. Dry assemble the left and right servo pockets to the main spar S1 and rib R3.   • Page 17 Tip! Prior to fitting of spar caps sand a bit of a chamfer along the spar tabs – this eliminates the harsh edge and aids in fitting. Slowly work parts into position – forcing the fit will only crush the tabs. © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.
  • Page 18 12. Dry assemble L2 leading edge cap strip. Tip! prior to fitting of spar caps sand a bit of a chamfer along the spar tabs – this eliminates the harsh edge and aids in fitting. Slowly work parts into position – forcing the fit will only crush the tabs. © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.
  • Page 19 Key the center landing gear block to the wing between ribs R1 and the main spar. Align flush with R1 and the main spar. Tack glue into position. 15. Key part L3 to the wing center section and tack glue into position. Next glue/laminate part L4 over L3. © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.
  • Page 20 And finally wick CA glue into all joints in the center section paying particular attention to the landing gear block.. Inspect your work to ensure that all surface to surface joints are properly bonded and that no joint has been left out. Remove the sand bags and continue on with assembly. © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.

  • Page 22 Dry fit aileron leading edge to remainder of aileron assembly make certain that each joint is properly seated – tack glue parts into place – then finalize the glue joints by bonding each surface to surface joint with thin CA. © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.
  • Page 23 Install gear wire into channels in gear spade and laminate second part LG8 to top of spade capturing gear legs within. Next run thin CA into spade by allowing it to wick in along the gear legs where they enter the spade. Sand exterior of spade to fit into gear block (in wing). © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.

    Laminate the parts in each stack by wicking thin CA into each layer. Lightly sand the edges of part WP1 to remove any burrs. Install WP1 inside wheel pant where indicated and secure with thin CA glue. Sand wheel pants to shape in preparation for paint or covering. © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.

    Retain the canopy to the fuselage using trim tape. Cautions when painting the cowl. Lay up multiple thin coats of paint, allowing ample time to dry, on the cowl to avoid melting of the part by the aggressive solvents in your paint. © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.

    Install your power system as detailed by the manufacture of your motor / ESC. Trim the provided spinner to match your propeller – never run a prop that has not been balanced or is out of track. © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.

    Slowly advance throttle – within a few feet you will be airborne. The Cap 232 (40e) slows down nicely for landings; however, make your first landings with slight power-on until you are familiar with the aircraft’s stall. © 2004 Stevens AeroModel.
