Troubleshooting
1. Follow
Pressure Relief Procedure, page
2. Check all possible remedies in the
Troubleshooting Chart and in your pump
manual Troubleshooting Chart before
disassembling the elevator riser or the pump.
Problem
Elevator will not raise or lower.
Elevator lowers too fast or too slow.
Elevator raises too fast or too slow.
Elevator slowly lowers when in
neutral.
Pump air regulator automatically
relieves pressure below desired
target for a 2:1 or 6:1 pump
Elevator movement is not smooth.

Cause
Closed air valve or clogged air line.
Not enough elevator regulator
pressure.
Worn or damaged piston.
Travel rate is not properly adjusted.
Too much or not enough elevator
regulator pressure.
Worn or damaged leather cup
packing.
Air leak in control box.
The relief valve is set to 80 psi to
accommodate the 5:1 pump.
Leather cup packing needs
lubrication.

Solution
Open, clear
Increase.
Replace.

Adjust as needed.
Replace.
Check all tube connections.
For 2:1 or 6:1 pumps, adjust the
relief valve on the back of the pump
air regulator. Do not exceed the
pump's maximum pressure.
Lubricate.
