OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Gate Operation
You trailer is equipped with one of two types of dump
valves. A Versa valve or Wabco Valve. The Versa (gold
valve body) valve allows the operator to feather the gate
opening to slowly release a loaded hopper. The Wabco
(blue valve body) valve is an immediate release valve and
the flow is controlled using the chain adjustments,

3-2. Both valves have an option to allow for
control from the pulling vehicle cab.
1. Control the amount of gate opening by setting the
gate limiting chains. Set the gate limiting chains at
the same length, front and rear, on the gates. The
gates must open only enough to unload the cargo.
They must not be opened so wide that the windrow
becomes too high. If the windrow is too high it will
cause the axles and brakes to drag on the windrow.
2. Do not unload at excessive speeds.

Figure 3-3: Versa valve (gold valve body) does not
require the chain adjustments for the gate. The valve
controls the rod on the pneumatic cylinders and
allows the operator to feather the gate opening. The
red handle is the manual release and the electrical
connector is the cab release option equipped.
1. Ensure trailer is centered on intended drop site for
material in the hopper.
2. Ensure gate chains are set at correct position and at
equal lengths front and rear.
3. Slowly pull forward and begin opening gate by using
gate controls in the cab (Option) or at the valve
assembly located on the street side rear end of the
hopper. Continue pulling forward until load is empty.
4. Pull forward and park in a safe spot and make sure
hopper is empty to ensure material isn't lost during
highway driving operations.
5. Close the gate and ensure air operations keep gate
closed by visually monitoring for approximately 60
seconds.
