DuraStor 6220SS/7220SS Installation and User's Guide
These modes address everything from direct attach single
controller configuration to high-availability dual controller SAN
configurations.
The DuraStor 7220SS storage subsystem features built-in internal
hubs that add further flexibility to the different operating modes,
thus reducing the reliance on external hubs and cables. The
topologies are described for each operating mode based on
whether the internal hub is disabled or enabled.
The following sections provide a description of each topology
operating mode:

Stand-Alone Dual-Port Topology
Use stand-alone dual-port mode when you have an application
that requires a low cost high-performance fault-tolerant disk
storage solution. This solution provides a single controller
configuration that supports multiple or dual-ported hosts.
Use stand-alone dual-port mode with the internal hubs disabled
when the application requires an external switch/hub. See

Stand-alone dual-port mode with the internal hubs enabled is ideal
in clustered applications where multiple hosts must have access to
the same storage. No external switches or hubs are required. See

Active-Active Dual-Port Topology
Use active-active dual-port mode when you have an application
that requires a high-performance, robust, full system-level fault-
tolerant disk storage solution. This dual controller configuration
supports multiple hosts and has true failover and failback
operations. All host input ports are active and available to external
hosts.
Use active-active dual-port mode with the internal hubs disabled
when the application requires an external switch/hub. This mode
is generally used when four or more hosts are required. Single loop
