Driveline Maximum Extended Length

Check Driveline Maximum Allowable Length
Driveline maximum allowable length must, when fully
extended, have 1/3 overlap of the profile tubes with both
inner and outer profile tubes being of equal length as
shown in Figure 1-15. Check driveline maximum
allowable length as follows:
Refer to Figure 1-15:
1. Unhook driveline from the tractor and implement.
2. Pull outer and inner drivelines profiles apart.
3. Measure and record "Free Length" of inner and outer
profiles as shown.
4. Assemble driveline halves together until profile tubes
have exactly 1/3 profile overlap as shown.
5. Measure driveline "Maximum Allowable Length" and
record that length here ______.
6. Reattach inner driveline yoke to the gearbox input
shaft and outer driveline yoke to the tractor's power
take-off shaft.
7. The driveline should now be moved back and forth to
insure that both ends are secured. Reattach any end
that is loose.

WARNING
To avoid serious injury or death:
Lightweight tractors with rear attached implements may need
weights added to the front to maintain steering control.
Consult your tractor Operator's Manual to determine proper
weight requirements and maximum weight limitations.
1. Start tractor and raise seeder up just enough to
remove support blocks.
2. Without changing 3-point lift height, shutdown tractor
properly before dismounting. Refer to "Tractor
Shutdown Procedure" on page 14.

4. Return to the tractor seat and start tractor. Slowly
engage 3-point control lever to lower the implement
while checking for sufficient drawbar clearance.
5. Skip to step #7 if drawbar does not need adjusting.
If adjustment is required, shutdown tractor properly
before dismounting. Move drawbar ahead, aside, or
remove if needed.
6. Return to the tractor seat and start tractor.
7. Raise and lower implement to find maximum
extended driveline length.
8. Without changing 3-point lift height, shutdown tractor
properly before dismounting to check driveline
maximum length and angle.
9. Block implement up before checking driveline length
and angle.
10. Check driveline length to make certain it does not
exceed the maximum allowable length recorded in
step 5 under "Check Driveline Maximum Allowable
Length" on this page.
11. Check driveline angle to verify it does not exceed the
maximum angle of 25
12. If needed, repeat steps 6-8 except this time find the
maximum height the 3-point lift can be operated at
without exceeding driveline maximum length and
angle.
13. Set tractor 3-point lift limiter at the height that will
keep the driveline within the maximum allowable
length and maximum 25
