1. Preparing to install the device

A. Observe antistatic precautions. The device contains electronic components which can easily be
damaged by small amounts of static electricity. To avoid damage, use a grounding wrist strap
during installation.
B. Inspect the items for physical damage. If any items are missing, contact your Hewlett-Packard rep-
resentative.
C. Record information. Record the device's serial number. Record the SCSI bus and SCSI address to
be used during installation.

D. Gather tools and accessories. The system installation requires a Torx 10 screwdriver, antistatic
foam pad, and grounding wrist strap. The screwdriver is not supplied with the device.
E. To install on a V Class, you must have the install kit (A4803-62001) which includes required
brackets. This kit is a separate order and is not included with the drive.
