10.3 Procedure for testing the personal protection systems

(laser scanner)

The regular inspections serve to check the effectiveness of the protective devices
and to detect defects due to changes or external infl uences (e.g. damage or
manipulation).
A special test object is required for the tests. This is defi ned in the respective
valid standard for autonomous transport vehicles.
10.3.1

Checking the basic function of the personal protection systems

(laser scanner)
Performance of the test
Check the function of the personal protection system (laser scanner) by
triggering the protective function once and observing the reaction of the
safety outputs, e.g. using the response of the ActiveShuttle.
To do this, move the designated test object dynamically into the driving path
(max. 1 m in front of the vehicle) of the ActiveShuttle and observe whether the
ActiveShuttle stops.
After the ActiveShuttle has stopped, remove the test object from the driving path
and check whether the ActiveShuttle starts again.
10.3.2

Checking the areas to be protected

During this test, the area to be protected and the detection capability
of the respective personal protection system (laser scanner) are checked.
The purpose of the test is to reveal the following points:
• Changes in detection capability (checking of all confi gured fi elds)
• Changes, manipulations and damages to the safety devices, which lead to changes
in the area to be protected or in the position of the protective fi eld
Performance of the test
Move the designated test object dynamically into the protective fi eld of the
ActiveShuttle.
Check whether the ActiveShuttle comes to a standstill in time.
Check all protective fi elds (front/rear) to ensure that the ActiveShuttle comes to
a standstill in time.
Change the position of the test object so that for each monitoring case it is
checked whether the protective fi eld is active over the entire required width.

10.4 Maintenance

Bearings
The bearings have lifelong lubrication and are maintenance-free under normal
conditions of use.
Gear
The gears are maintenance-free.
