6 Repair and maintenance

6.1 Precautions for repair and maintenance

Besides safety instructions in Chapter 1, comply with the following instructions for inspection, repair
and maintenance.
 Cut off power first before inspection, commissioning, repair and maintenance.
 Only can manual operation to open access doors and guards be allowed when power is
off and extruder is at complete stop.
 Only is trained technical personnel allowed to do danger-potential work such as
replacement and repair.
 The replacement or maintenance of electric control system, wiring or elements should
only be done by trained personnel.
 The machine can only be started when all protection devices including cover plate,
guards, guard grating etc. are installed and in good functional order.
 When in need to open the safety guards or access doors or to take the safety devices
off for inspection, adjustment, repairing and maintenance, and parts replacement, please
set up the required safety procedures and work out safety action plans prior to such
operations.

Be sure that the above said safety devices and guards are put back to their positions
and ensure their proper functions after inspection, adjustment, repair and maintenance.

When doing installation, repair and maintenance, please be sure the warning signs
[Maintenance and Inspection work in process] are placed on the workshop gateway, so as
to caution other people with clear warning.
 Attention! Improper operation and maintenance may cause accident.
 The equipment should be cleaned for both inside and outside after each shift of
operation, especially no material remaining in the extruder barrels to avoid difficult
cleaning after the materials cool down and agglomerate;
 Clean the big belt pulley of extruder main shaft on regular basis to avoid dust
accumulation; otherwise, unbalance of the belt pulley will cause extruder vibration.
 After the new equipment used for one week, the tension of belt shall be checked to
prevent belt slippage;
 Do not knock the screw head and pressure ring with excessive force when removing
them. Keep the screw heads and both sides of the pressure ring clean and smoothly flat.
In this way, the material will not go in between the screw connection ends, thus to
ensure the convenience for the next disassembly.
 The machine must be operated in strict compliance with operation requirements.
Necessary checking and cleaning should be conducted for each working shift.
