BRITA filter after a period of non-use Two main types of BRITA filter are shown below. Once you have identified which filter you have, use the relevant instructions on the following pages to flush your filter after a period of non-use.

To flush the filter you must have a bucket and enough space next to the BRITA PURITY filter to be able to locate the bucket, so that it can sit flat on the floor. If the filter is in a cupboard you may need to lift the filter out of the cupboard in order to flush the filter safely and so that the grey hose can reach the bucket.

5. Make sure the mains water is turned on and flowing through the BRITA water filter (as it may have been turned off when the equipment was shut down). As soon as you do this you will start to get water flowing through the grey flush hose into the bucket.
