Please note that the red LED is a convenient indicator only. It does not affect the operation of the output
circuit breaker. After a fault is cleared, the user may or may not decide to reset the LED. A subsequent
fault will cause the indication to be updated in either case.

G/F TEST - RESET

2.5.1

G/F TEST INTERNAL

Double-clicking the built-in RESET – TEST pushbutton invokes a test which switches an AC voltage
onto the processor's CT sensor input. The voltage is scaled to simulate a Ground fault current of 1.5
times the G/F trip level set point. The output circuit breaker will trip on G/F after the set delay (plus 0.4 s)
and the AC test voltage will be switched off. The red LED will turn on solid. This proves that the internal
electronics and output circuit breaker are functioning. Optionally, pressing the reset button again will
reset the red LED enabling the green RUN LED. Reclose the circuit breaker (Normal position). No
external power supply is required.
2.5.2

G/F TEST EXTERNAL

Provision is made for external testing if required. Refer to Figure 1. Select a momentary contact single
pole normally closed pushbutton rated at least 3 Amps at 10 Volts ac. Connect as shown in Figure 1.
When pressed the circuit to the external CT is opened. This results in a trip and the red LED will flash
four 0.25 s flashes (CT Open Circuit). This proves that the current transformer is connected and the
windings are okay, the CT monitor's detection circuit is operating, and the internal electronics and output
circuit breaker are functioning.
A "Test Record Form" is included in this instruction manual. This form provides spaces to record the
date the test was performed and the results. Those in charge of the building's electrical installation
should retain the form in order to be available to the authority having jurisdiction.
2.5.3

RESET

The built-in RESET – TEST pushbutton is used to optionally reset the red LAST TRIP LED in the
D64RPBH13.
The external pushbutton cannot be used to reset the red LAST TRIP LED.

Two .25 s flashes every few seconds means that the ground fault current exceeded
the Trip Inhibit Level but the upstream device failed to trip during 1.2 s. The
D64RPBH13 then tripped as a last resort. The contactor should be replaced since its
contacts may well be damaged. This trip is labelled Inhibit Backup.
Four 0.25 s flashes every few seconds means that the connection of the external CT is
open circuited. Note that the trip is latched until reset; therefore intermittent failures will
be captured, overcoming the impression that the D64RPBH3 tripped without cause.
This trip is labelled CT Open Circuit.
Five 0.25 s flashes every few seconds means that control voltage was lost while the
D64RPBH13 was in the Failsafe operating mode. The RESET pushbutton must be
pressed before restoring control voltage to activate this indication.
Continuous 0.25 s flashes indicate an extra 'trip failed' alarm state on top of one of the
possible trips described above. Following the operation of the output circuit breaker,
measured ground fault current remained at a high level. When the local reset button is
first pressed, the trip is not reset, but the 'trip failed' alarm state is. As a result the red
LED will now show the original cause of trip. This alarm is labelled Trip Failed.
