Engine Oil and Filter Change
Warning:
Hot oil can cause burns to skin.
Always change the oil and filter at the intervals outline in the periodic
maintenance chart. Always change the oil filter when changing the oil (except for
the initial change at 12 hours). You will also need to replace the gasket ring on
the drain plug screw.
1. Ensure the vehicle is parked safely on a level surface.
2. Start the engine and allow to idle for several minutes. If your engine is
warm, this step is not necessary.
3. Shut down the engine. Allow several minutes for oil to flow down to the
crankcase and cool slightly.
4. Place a drain pan under the engine drain plug area.
5. Wipe the drain plug and surrounding area with a clean rag.
6. Unscrew the drain plug and discard the gasket ring.
7. Remove the dipstick and allow oil to drain completely from the crankcase.
Note:
Observe the condition of the oil. It gives insight into the health of the
engine. If there is debris present, it could be an indication of an issue within
the engine. Check the engine to correct any issues immediately.
8. Clean the magnetic drain plug and install a new gasket ring onto the plug.
9. Once the oil has completely drained, remove and replace the oil filter, hand
tighten ¼ turn past gasket contact with the housing.
10. Reinstall the drain plug and torque to 17 ft/lb.
11. Refill engine with Intimidator SYN 10W-40. Reference the specific engine
manual for specific volumes.
12. Once full, check the oil level with the dipstick.
13. Start the engine and idle for several minutes to ensure that the filter and
drain plug are not leaking.
14. Double check oil level, shut down the engine.
15. Dispose of used oil and filter per your local environmental regulations.
