Inspection (Refer to figures 5 & 6)
1. Remove the charger from its shipping container. Note that the shipping container and
packaging material are re-useable. Do not destroy. Save these items, or return them to your
distributor.
2. Make certain the coupler paddle is in its holster.
3. Familiarize yourself with the Magne Charge™ charger.
• Note the location of the four bottom mounting holes.
• Note the color of the four electrical wires; two black, one green, and one white.
− The two black 10 AWG wires are for input power.
− The green 10 AWG wire is for chassis / equipment ground.
− The white 12 AWG wire is for the neutral connection.
Pedestal Installation (Refer to figures 7, 8, & 9)
4. Prepare site per local building codes, UL Stability requirements, handicap access height (if
required), and pedestal mounting hole dimensions.
5. Align the pedestal mounting holes with the mounting studs located on the mounting base.
6. Fasten the pedestal to the mounting base. Torque to 80 lbs-in.
Charger Installation (Refer to figures 6, 7, & 10)
Turn off the circuit breaker at the service or distribution panel supplying electricity to the
charger and verify that high voltage is not present before performing the following steps.

7. Place the charger on top of the pedestal.
8. Align the four holes on the pedestal with those on the base of the charger.
9. Fasten the charger to the pedestal using four #30 tamper-resistant screws. Torque to 40 lbs-in.
10. If attached, remove the access panel from the front of the pedestal.
11. Attach the conduit fitting to the flexible non-metallic conduit. Do not cut conduit or input wiring.
12. Prior to the installation of the plastic junction box, adjust the height of the junction box lid
screws by performing the following steps:
a) Install the plastic junction box lid.
b) Tighten both screws on the plastic junction box down so that the lid can slide on and off
with minimal play.
c) Remove plastic junction box lid.
13. Insert the conduit fitting through the hole located on the right side of the pedestal.
14. Attach the plastic junction box to the pedestal by inserting the conduit fitting through one of the
knock-outs. Secure junction box by tightening the conduit fitting nut.
