Getting started

4.1

Power supply

1. Before starting the device, put the batteries into the instrument.
2. Remove the rubber protection.
3. Use your finger to open the battery cover by pressing on the arrow and open the lid.
4. Remove old batteries.
5. Install four new 1.5 V AA alkaline batteries with correct polarity.
6. Close the battery cover.
7. Put the rubber protection back on.
An exclamation mark on the display of the device indicates low battery voltage. New batteries have to be
put in immediately. In addition, it is recommended that the batteries are taken out of the instrument when
it is not used for a longer period of time.

Operation

5.1

Measurement

1. Switch on the device. Press and hold the power button for three seconds.
2. Choose the needed characteristic curve. Use the arrow keys to do so. An overview of the
characteristic values can be found in the next chapter.
3. Hold the instrument in one hand and apply some contact pressure (approx. 1 kg) to the product to
be tested. Measure at the breadth or on paper piles directly. Running rolls cannot be measured
with the PCE-PM 3.
4. After the instrument has been pressed on the product to be measured, it will display the moisture
content. On the left side, the temperature will be shown.
