Wash the resident or patient
• Adjust the thermostat to the correct temperature.
• Open the shower tap.
• Remove the hand-held shower from its holder.
• To activate the hand-held shower, the push button on the handle has to be kept
pushed in.
• Pressing this button further in, or pushing it less will increase or reduce the rate at
which the water flows out.
• Check the temperature of the water before you direct the jet of water on the resident
or patient; do this once the water has been running for a little while. That is because it
can take a few minutes for the water to reach its final temperature!
• After showering, close the shower tap.
• Press the black button on the hand-held shower for a moment or two to depressurise
the hose.
• Hang the hand-held shower back in its holder.
Important: make sure that the hoses never lie on the floor, as this could
result in them being run over or someone tripping over them.
Disinfecting
• Pull on the plastic gloves and wear safety glasses.
• Ventilate the room in which the work is to take place (open a window).

• Open the disinfectant tap and remove the red hand-held shower from its holder.
• Spray all surfaces that are to be disinfected (also remember underneath the seat
or mattress). Use sufficient liquid to ensure that all surfaces remain wet whilst it is
soaking in.
• Close the disinfectant and safety taps and slightly press the black button of the hand-
held shower to depressurise the hose.
• Now hang the red hand-held shower back in its holder.
