INSTALLATION, ASSEMBLY, INITIAL START-UP
5.
5.1. FASTENING FITTINGS
The decompression station must be fastened securely to the wall. The assembly height for the
lower fastening strip (console boring) is approx. 164 cm for the 50 l cylinder.
To ensure safe handling, brackets (accessory available from the manufacturer) must be
attached to secure the gas cylinders..
5.2. PRELIMINARY STEPS
First check whether the pressure reducer is suitable for the proposed application (gas type,
EN
pressure, material) by refering to the data plate and the inscription.
Do not use halogenated hydrocarbons (cleaning agents, tefl on spray, etc.) during cleaning
and assembly. The fi tting is therefore ECD suitable as delivered.
Lubricants may be used outside the area in contact with the media only. Only lubricants listed
in the „Procedure instructions for lubricants".
Check whether the material used in the conveying supply pipe is suitable for the intended gas
type. Connect the supply pipe to the service gas outlet on the battery pressure reducer. For
the connecting screw joint we recommend using clamping ring screw joints which, if included
in your order, are already sealed to the fi tting outlet.
Assembly follows by inserting the pipe as far as possible into the opening in the screw joint
cap nut. Screw down the cap nut manually, then tighten using a forked open jaw wrench
(1 1/4 turns).
The blow-off valve and the purging gas outlet (to the extent these are included) are connected
to a waste gas pipe in the same manner. Make certain that the waste gas pipe is directed
to a suitable, safe location.
5.2.1 MOUNTING THE CONNECTING SPIRAL TO THE STATION
The stainless steel spiral pipe for connecting the station to the gas cylinder is always separate
from the rest of the delivery.
First check that the spiral pipe corresponds to the fi tting correctly. The number which corre-
sponds to the gas type classifi cation in accordance with DIN 477 is stamped on the spiral pipe
connecting screw. Connecting spirals are available in a single version only which is equally
suitable for connecting to the left-hand and right-hand sides of the battery pressure reducer.
To mount the connecting spiral to the station fi rst remove the plastic protective caps from the
connecting pipe thread on the station and the spiral pipe connecting screw. Make certain that
the fl at gasket included in delivery has been placed inside the connecting nut. Screw the cap
nut onto the connecting pipe thread on the station outlet manually, tightening with a forked
open jaw wrench (width 17).
5.2.2 CONNECTING THE CONNECTING SPIRAL TO THE GAS CYLINDER
The threads on the cylinder valve and cap nut must be in perfect condition.
Use new gaskets only. Gaskets should not be deformed and should bear no traces of dirt or
metal fi lings.
Use only original manufacturer cylinder connecting spirals suitable for the gas type being
used.
Check that the gaskets are seated correctly inside the spiral connection socke.
Note the right-handed or left-handed thread on the cylinder connecting nut. Left-handed
threads can be identifi ed by the circular groove on the outside of the nut. Screw the nut onto
the cylinder valve thread manually, then tighten using a forked open jaw wrench. Be certain to
hold down the grip on the spiral pipe when tightening with the wrench.
