D. Remove nut on inside of instrument panel
securing choke cable assembly i n place.
E. Pull choke cable assembly out through hole
in instrument panel and service o r replace
choke assembly as required. Reverse above
procedures to reinstall and set choke adjust-
ment at carburetor as follows:
a
Remove air cleaner for this adjustment
b . Attach end o f c a b l e t o choke lever oncar-
buretor. (Fig. 29) Slip cable under cable
clamp screw and lightly tighten screw.
c. With choke control knob o n instrument
panel pushed in all the way, butterfly i n
carburetor throat should be full open.
d. Pull choke control knob out (minimum
l'h"), butterfly i n carburetorthroatshould
be fully closed.
e
Move cable under clamping screw until
adjustments a r e achieved. !hen fully
tighten choke cable clamp screw against
choke cable
F. Close hood and secure with hood latches
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:
1. System Functions
-
A. To start the yard tractor the operator should
be seated, the clutch/brake pedal must be
completely depressed and the PTO switch
must be i n the OFF position. Ignition switch
can now be turned and the engine will start.
The Safety Interlock System is made u p of
three separate switches, clutch/brake pedal
switch, seat switch and PTO switch. This
interlock system is provided for the safety o f
the operator and should not be tampered
with.
B. The safety functions of the interlock system
are as follows:
a. If either the clutch/brake pedal is up
(ENGAGED position) or PTO switch is
engaged or both leversare in their operat-
i n g positions. T h e ignition switch can be
turned t o the START position and the
engine will not start.
b. The seat switch is also an intregal part o f
the safety interlock system. Should the
operator leave the seat with engine run-
ning while either theclutchlbrake pedal is
u p or PTOswitch engaged, the engine will
stop.
IMPORTANT: In some instances, it may be
necessary for the serviceman to be o f f o f the
operator's seat with engine running to make
certain e n g i n e adjustments. This can b e
achieved b y depressing the clu!ch/brake
pedal and setting the parking brake and set-
t i n g the PTO switch i n theOFF position. Spe-
cial precautions should be taken by the ser-
viceman when operating tractor in this mode.
as this is N O T a recommended method o f
operating for this tractor.
A
WARNING: T o avoid serious injury, D O N O T
run engine without a n operator i n the seat
except f o r necessary engine adjustmenls.
KNOW HOW TO STOP THE ENGINE.
C. T o aid in trouble-shooting, the starting and
ignition electrical systems, we have isolated
each system i n thefollowing wiring diagrams
to make servicing each system easier. The
f u n c t i o n o f each system is described as
follows:
a.
Starting System
-
(Fig. 32)
Power from the battery flows through the
fuse and ammeter to the ignition swltch
terminal "B". When ignition switch is
turned to the START position, current
flows from terminal " S ' t o the control
windings of the solenoid to the normally
open termlnal of the clutchibrake pedal
m i c r o s w i t c h . The clutch/brake pedal
must b e depressed to actuate the micro
switch allowing the current to flow to the
PTO switch. The PTO switch must be i n
the OFF position allowing thecurrent to
flow to g r o u n d . At this time, the solenoid
is energized and current will flow to the
starter.
b. Ignition System
-
(Fig. 33)
When t h e ignition switch is i n the START
o r RUN position the
"M"
terminal is iso-
lated. I n the OFF position, "Mu terminal is
connected t o ground, through the "G"
terminal. Sincetheengine issparked by a
magneto, the ignition switch will cut o f f
spark when turned to the OFF position.
When i n the START or RUN position, the
current f r o m the magneto can also flow to
theseatswitch which is a normally closed
switch. If the operator is o n the seat, the
current will beunable to find a ground and
the engine can run orstart. If the operator
is o f f theseat, current can flow t o t h e PTO
switch and the clutch/brake pedal switch.
Should either the clutch/brake pedal be
released o r the PTO switch is in the O N
