E. Disconnect drag link ball joint at steering J.
gear sector arm by removing capscrew, lock-
nut and washer. (Fig. 22)
F. Remove one thread forming screw attaching
clutch/brake switch bracket to crossmember
(Fiq. 22). -

G. Remove spring clip and clevis pin, joining
clevis (on end of speed control rod) t o speed
0.
control beilcrank. See (Fig. 25 or 25A))
H. Screw knob off parking brake link. (Fig. 23)
Remove push nut and washers. Push brake
link i n and allow t o drop as far as possible.

clip o n steering gear sector arm
below split bushing i n crossmember. Care-
fully pry plastic split bushing o u t of cross-
member and remove bushing f r o m gearsec-
t o r arm.
NOTE: Locating tab on bushing should be
aligned i n slot i n crossmember when reas-
sembled.
Remove four capscrews holding steering and
PTO support crossmember between frame.
Rotate crossmember 90" a n d work cross-
member off of steering gear sector arm.
Gently tap t o p bushing, o n steering gearsec-
t o r arm, upward until unseated from frame
saddle.
Remove knob, and t w o screws attaching
throttle control t o instrument panel. (Fig. 20)
Work throttle control out slot i n instrument
panel and secure out of the way towards left
side of tractor.
Remove nuts and ,wire connections at amme-
ter. Tag wires f o r reassembly. Slide fastener
bracket off terminals and remove ammeter
out front o f instrument panel. (Fig. 20)
Remove eight thread forming screws along
b o t t o m s i d e e d g e s of i n s t r u m e n t panel
shroud. (Fig. 20) Push shroud rearward as far
as possible.
Work steering gear sector assembly up and
out of hole i n frame. Servlce gear sector as
required.
Replace steering gear sector assembly by
reversing above procedures a n d pay atten-
tion t o "NOTES" below:
NOTE: Be sure t o liberally grease gear teeth
with NLGI Grade 2 Lithium base EP grease
(Ford I T - M l C 1 3 7 - B ) after Installation is
made. (Fig.21)
NOTE: Before tightening capscrewssecuring
lower flange steering shaft bearing, align-
ment of steering wheel and front wheels
should be set. Manually set front wheels in
the forward drive position. T u r n steering
wheel so l o g o is facing operator and steering
wheel spokes are centered w i t h the centerline
of the tractor. Slide lower bearing towards
gear sector assembly, until steering gear and
gear s e c t o r mesh evenly a n d smoothly.
tighten both capscrewson lower bearing t o a
torque of 10
-
15 ft./lbs.
